One such experiment was the so-called Brooklands Experiment in England – a unique attempt not only to create a specialized space for young people with severe disabilities but also to show that life can be dignified and independent, regardless of physical or psychological limitations. The charitable foundation “Nepatogūs” has taken on the mission of replicating this success in Lithuania.
Rugged Iceland is known not only for its nature and music but also for its modern approach to people with disabilities. Projects implemented on this small island for people with disabilities and their families have created a significant impact. Their success story is now set to be replicated in Lithuania, led by families raising children with disabilities themselves, united under the charitable foundation “Nepatogūs”.
In Lithuania, adults with severe complex disabilities typically live either with their parents or in care institutions. However, in the Vilnius region, the first homes are being completed where they will be able to live independently while receiving round-the-clock support.
